Twitter as Haiku

I have just been lucky enough to win ‘140 and counting’ by Joanne Merriem from www.librarything.com. It is a selection of sayings, necessarily short, from Twitter, and very appealing and absorbing. I have been an ardent fan of Twitter for over a year, and a more recent convert to Haiku. Why write a hundred words when ten can express the same thought and capture the same evocative image? Choosing my favourite was difficult but I settled on:
stop to tie my shoe
look up evening comes
without warning
– Neal Whitman

I was also absorbed by the short biographies of the contributors, and have already clicked ‘Follow’ on three of them. Joanne Merriam, the editor of Upper Rubber Boot, is definitely someone I intend to find out more about.
