Avant,\u00a0devant : before, in front of\/arri\u00e8re, derri\u00e8re : backwards, behind<\/p>\n

I used to confuse these words. Reading one day: ‘elle a jet\u00e9 ses cheveux en arri\u00e8re’ I (wrongly)\u00a0thought: well, derri\u00e8re is backwards so arri\u00e8re must be forwards. She threw her hair forwards…I don’t think so. Which sent me to the dictionary to discover my mistake.<\/p>\n
