‘Une grasse matinée’ is a lie-in. ‘Faire la grasse matinée’ is to lie in, to sleep late into the morning. (Chance would be a fine thing.)
I have just had ‘un café onctueux’. This may sound like an oily, greasy coffee but is, in fact, a creamy coffee.
I wanted to write a long blog today but it will have to wait until next week when I hope to have more time to spare. Meanwhile I have written ‘n’importe quoi’ – ‘any old thing’: the first French phrases that sprang to mind.
